ANNUAL OPEN ENROLLMENT
Nov 1 – Dec 15
Make your appointment to talk to us and rest assured that we will guide you in choosing the options right for you! (Gibbs-d-dog is excellent with forwarding your messages!)
If you don’t have coverage through an employer, you can, as an Oregon resident, buy an individual or family health insurance plan during Open Enrollment which happens each year November 1 through December 15. Individuals and families must either renew or enroll in a new plan as their current plan automatically expires on the first of the new year. Open enrollment is the one time during the year when you can change plans, change insurance companies, or choose to stay with the plan you have.
You can only enroll outside of the open enrollment dates if you experience a “triggering event.” Examples include loss of comprehensive coverage, getting married, having or adopting a child, newly gaining citizenship, moving, and a change in income that makes you eligible for financial help.
Are You Required to Have Coverage in Oregon? Oregonians who can afford health insurance but decide not to have it, have in the past owed penalties when filing their Federal taxes; however, those penalties are waived as of 2019. There are still many important reasons to insure yourself and your family with at least basic coverage!
Individuals can renew or go-it-alone to sign up for their insurance at https://www.healthcare.gov. But, always remember, we can take care of the enrollment process for you without any cost to you.
If your family qualifies for the Oregon Health Program (OHP), you can find assistance to arrange what you need at: https://www.projectaccessnow.org/help/
WHAT IS “BASIC” COVERAGE?
Basic plans must offer certain features… beyond that we research what else you need in your coverage.
A qualified health insurance plan must not exceed an Out-of-Pocket Maximum of $8,100 and must include 10 essential benefits as follows:
- Prevention and Wellness
- Pediatric Services
- Emergency Services
- Ambulatory Services
- Lab Services
- Prescription Drugs
- Mental Health/Substance Abuse
LET US HELP YOU FIND A PLAN
We can take the confusion out of the process!
It can be confusing to review all the Oregon health insurance plans and find an affordable rate in the Individual Health Insurance market. The FG Insurance team has worked with Oregonians from Portland to Ashland and Eastern Oregon since 2003.
By asking just a few questions, we help you decide between the many companies and hundreds of health insurance plans in Oregon. Deductibles can vary a lot. Plans may offer limited or unlimited doctor visits. By taking the time to ask how often you go to the doctor, what type of physician you normally see, and to understand your and your family’s lifestyle, we can narrow the plans down to just a few.We frequently work with lower-income individuals and families and help them figure out if government assistance is available–as rates have increased more and more Oregonians are surprised to learn they qualify for premium subsidies.
There are many health insurance plans available to Oregon residents. And rest assured, all personal information is confidential.
We’ll help you size up the right choices!
Many dentists will tell you that they take your dental insurance; however, they omit that nearly all dental insurance is out-of network. For your best coverage, we work with many dental insurance companies to find the best for you.
